The policy context
In this chapter we set out the policy background and show how it shapes and influences the plan. Later chapters set out how we think the plan can most appropriately respond to the varying demands of different policy areas and how to balance this with the needs and priorities of Bedfordshire’s citizens.
We begin with national transport and planning policy, then look at the implications of all regional, sub-regional and local level policies and strategies of relevance to the Local Transport Plan. The influence of these policies is summarised in Table 2 ‘Policies relevant to the LTP’.
