Road safety - what we do

Our statutory responsibility is to help to reduce the number and severity of accidents for all road users in Bedfordshire by preparing and carrying out various measures designed to promote road safety.

The road safety team constantly provides road safety education and training for 65,000 children in 203 schools throughout the county and either directly provides or enables the following services:

Road Safety Education

  • Pedestrian Education and Training
  • Mini bus driver Education and Training
  • Teacher Training
  • Educational resource materials

Cycling

  • Cycle Education and Training
  • Support and promote National Bike Week and Cycle to Work Day
Road Safety also provide advice for all road users, what ever their mode of travel, and regardless of age. From infant travel through to cycle and pre-driver training our aim is to assist them to mature into responsible road users.
 

Driver Training

  • Promotion of Motor cycle Education and Training
  • Pre-Driver Education
  • Car driver Education
  • In-Car Education
Ensuring lessons learnt in theory can be put into practice, thus teaching practical as well as theoretical skills.
