Traffic Education in Schools

We have a duty to teach children the basic skills appropriate to their ages and help teachers and parents to reinforce the message.

Road safety awareness needs to be developed from an early age, with a structured programme of road safety education being taught throughout each year of a child's development.

Basic road safety has now been introduced into the PSHE (personal, social and health education) curriculum in key stage 1 and 2 (5 - 11 year old) to ensures that every child receives appropriate, relevant traffic education each year of their school life.

The road safety team operates a full resource support service. This includes the provision of free resources to schools, a resource loan scheme and up to date information on new resources.
