School crossing FAQs

School crossing patrols ensure the travel to and from school, for local children, is as safe as possible.

How do you decide where to place a School Crossing Patrol?

School Crossing Patrols are provided mainly where unnaccompanied children children at Middle schools are in danger from road traffic when walking to and from school. This is not necessarily directly outside a school but could be anywhere on a direct route.
 

Can I request a School Crossing Patrol?

Requests for additional school crossing patrols can be made using this form. Following a request we will decide whether a survey of the area is suitable within the national criteria which includes a vehicle and pedestrian count.
 

How many School Crossing Patrols does enter council name operate?

Currently we have 65 school crossing patrols in operation.
 

Do you have any job vacancies?

The Patrol Officer job becomes available from time to time, but we are usually looking for Reserve Patrols in all areas at any time.
