Pre-School

Every year around 1,000 children under the age of five are killed or seriously injured on or near our roads. Road accidents can happen to children in cars, walking in the street, cycling or out playing.

With so many children killed or injured every year the Road Safety Education, Training and Publicity Team believe it is essential that children receive Road Safety training relevant to their level of development. This should be extended throughout their lives.

The Road Safety Activity Box

The boxes have been developed by the Road Safety Education, Training and publicity Team to encourage pre-school play group leaders to integrate road safety messages into play sessions

The resources provide topic ideas aimed at developing perception, movement and behaviour patterns which will prepare pre-school children to become more aware of their own safety in the road environment.
A parent's letter also accompanies the resource box to encourage parents to be aware of the importance of road safety issues, and to ensure children are receiving similar messages at home.

A resource box can be obtained on a loan basis at any time by contacting the Road Safety team on: (01234) 228336.
