Works being undertaken on Highway

Bedfordshire Highways, has a duty to co-ordinate works on the highway, including the works of utilities, developers etc., in the interests of mitigating congestion as far as possible. Plus to ensure the safety of road users, minimise public inconvenience , the protection of the structure of the street and the integrity of apparatus in it.

We ensure that the requirements contained in the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, and it's supporting Codes of Practice, including those for traffic management and reinstatements are carried out effectively and efficiently. If you see any instances of what you consider are bad practices being undertaken by anyone working on the highway then we would be pleased if you could let us know so that we can take action.
