Physical education and school sport

Bedfordshire County Council supports the Government’s Public Service Agreement for Physical Education and School Sport. The 2008 PSA supports the national strategy for Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) and states that the target is:

“To increase the percentage of school children in England who spend a minimum of 2 hours each week on high quality PE and school sport, within and beyond the curriculum to 85% by 2008.

Bedfordshire achieved the 2006 PSA of 75% comfortably, by achieving over 80%, making the 2008 target realisable.

In Bedfordshire there are a number of developments supporting the national strategy.
