ContactPoint
ContactPoint will be the quick way to find out who else is working with the same child or young person, making it easier to deliver more co-ordinated support.
ContactPoint is a basic online directory which will be available to authorised staff who need it to do their jobs. It is a key part of the Every Child Matters programme to improve outcomes for children. It will be a vital part of delivering early intervention for children who need additional services and effective safeguarding for children at risk of harm.
Practitioners can spend days trying to find out who else is working with the same child or unknowingly duplicate work that is already being carried out by another service. ContactPoint will be able to ensure that practitioners spend far less time trying to identifying other professionals who may be working with a family and will give an immediate picture as to what services, if any, are being accessed by that child.
ContactPoint will be available to all Local Authorities throughout England. The directory will hold the details of 11 million children with approximately 330,000 registered users.
