Statement of community involvement

A key objective of Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act is to encourage more meaningful stakeholder and public involvement throughout the planning process. To this end, we have produced a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI), which sets out how people can get involved in plan-making and in the consideration of planning applications.

This document does not cover Luton as they will be preparing their own SCI, for more information on this please visit their website| (opens in new window). This document is therefore the Bedfordshire Statement of Community Involvement.

The Statement of Community Involvement was adopted by Bedfordshire County Council on 12 October 2006. Before it was adopted a draft version was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination. The Inspector who ran the examination recommended a number of minor modifications, which have been incorporated in the adopted document.

The Statement of Community Involvement, the Inspectors Report and the formal notice of Adoption are all available to download below.
