Environment and planning

Welcome to the Bedfordshire County Council environment and planning area.

Bedfordshire County Council is working in partnership with other organisations and individuals to ensure that we continue to live and work within and enjoy the environment, whilst preserving it for future generations.   

The County’s environment services include archaeology, historic buildings, tree management, landscape and nature conservation, as well as recreation in the countryside, including the rights of way| network.  

Planning services include waste disposal and recycling, planning policy and planning applications for new minerals and waste sites, considering planning applications for County Council proposals such as new schools, strategic planning policies (structure plans and work on regional plans such as East of England Plan) and responses to property searches (particularly the questions which relate to highways).
