Bedfordshire County Council is supporting National Real Nappy week to encourage parents to switch from disposable nappies to Real Nappies.
National Real Nappy Week which runs from 11 March to Mothers Day on 18 March which also sees the launch of the County Council’s Real Nappies Now! Cash Back scheme where parents will have the chance to win a ‘Birth to Potty’ pack worth £200.
To help launch Real Nappy Week there are a series of events across the county which will give people the chance to find out more.
Bedfordshire County Councils Cabinet Member for Highways and Waste Tom Wootton said, “Each baby uses up to 5,000 disposable nappies by the time they are potty trained it also means that up to 50% of a households waste could be just disposable nappies. That‘s approximately one tonne of nappies thrown away into landfill a year.
“But the really good news is that if you live in Bedfordshire, you may be entitled to £25 cash back from Bedfordshire County Council when you spend £50 or more on cotton nappies or subscribe to a nappy laundry service”
For more information on the cash back scheme or questions about washable nappies please contact Bedfordshire County Council’s Recycling Officer Alisa Savage on (01234) 228385. The following events are happening during Real Nappy Week
