Local Area Agreement (LAA)

Bedfordshire has signed a new Local Area Agreement to operate from 2008 - 2011.

It is very important that councils and other local public service organisations work together in partnership with businesses, representatives of the voluntary and community sectors and local people to improve the well-being of an area.  The Bedfordshire Countywide Partnership has brought key partners together to create a shared vision and a shared sense of priorities and place for Bedfordshire.

The vision and priorities are set out in the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS), which describes the long term actions and ambitions for the place and its people.  The Local Area Agreement (LAA) will help deliver what is set out in the SCS and is a contract with central government and Bedfordshire County Council and its partners to improve services and the quality of life of its residents.
