Sandstone Lodge Southill

Sandstone Lodge sits at one of the entrances to Southill Park. It is not an old building, a plaque showing that is was built by the Whitbread |Estate in 1905. It was listed by the former Department of Environment as Grade II, of special interest. It is constructed of pink sandstone and has a thatched roof. It is a single storey building and includes a rustic verandah supporting the roof.

In 1927 Southill was valued under the Rating Valuation Act 1925; every piece of land and building in the country was assessed to determine the rates to be paid on it. The valuer visiting Southill Park noted that Sandstone Lodge comprised a living room, kitchen, scullery and two bedrooms, all on the same floor.
