The Queens Head Public House Potton
Queen's Head Public House: 22 Sun Street, Potton [formerly Maidenhead; also Old Queens Head]

former Queen's Head Mar 2007
The first mention of this public house| in any record held by Bedfordshire & Luton Archives & Records Service is in 1720 when, as the Maidenhead, it was devised by George Pedly in his will to his son John, along with the Cock,| King's Arms| and White Lion (later the Green Man|), also in Potton. Other than references in licensing registers and two plans from 1878 Bedfordshire & Luton Archives & Records Service has no other records, because the public house became owned by Simpson & Company, brewers of Baldock [Hertfordshire] and the deeds are with Hertfordshire Archives Service under their reference T144-145 and T149-150. Licensing records reveal that the public house closed in 1919; it then had a complete reversal of fortune, becoming the Temperance Hotel which appears in directories until at least 1928
