Two Brewers Beerhouse

Two Brewers Beerhouse: Back Street, Potton

Two Brewers
Two Brewers entry in a sale catalogue [GK1/36]

It is not clear, from documents held by Bedfordshire & Luton Archives & Records Service, when this beerhouse| began but it was in existence by the time of the first licensing register for the district held by BLARS in 1872. Like a number of other drinking establishments in the area it was owned by Thomas Strickland and subsequently by his trustees after his death. Again, like most of these, it was then leased by the trustees to Sandy, later Potton, brewer Alfred Richardson. It is unclear from records when Richardson ceased to run the business but the likely date appears to be around 1894 when a number of mortgages he took out were redeemed. Wells & Company had the property when they were purchased by Kent businessman George Winch for his son Edward Bluett Winch in 1899. The Two Brewers closed some time after 1915.
