Wellington Hotel
Wellington Hotel (also known as The Duke of Wellington and The Wellington), Lower Caldecote
This public house/hotel is listed in the register of alehouse licences covering the period 1822 to 1828 and occurs in directories until 1839 after which time no document held by Bedfordshire & Luton Archives & Records Service has a record of it.
However, a beer shop or beerhouse| is recorded in the 1847 Directory, run by one Isaac Course, and it is possible that this is the Wellington (since beerhouses are not named in directories). Unfortunately after this date both Upper and Lower Caldecote are simply listed as Caldecote in the directories, making tracing of this beerhouse impossible.
