Getting advice on the internet

This section has details of external organisations and websites which may be able to offer further advice and support.

Advice guide| (new window) Citizens Advice guide gives information and advice about a whole range of issues including benefit problems.

Age concern| (new window) information on the issues that affect many older people. There are fact sheets available on social security benefits, community care and residential care.

Community Legal Services| (new window) this gives information about where to get advice across the country. It is a useful website for people who need access to advice and want to know about local advice agencies, including solicitors.

Department of Work and Pensions| (new window) a government website with latest leaflets and information about benefits. The website is regularly updated.

Disability Alliance| (new window) an independent organisation which has a well-established record in disability benefits. This site has a useful links page.

Inland Revenue| (new window) useful information on Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits.

National Debtline| (new window) free, independent and confidential advice on how to deal with debts. 

Pension Service| (new window) this provides information about benefits for people aged 60 or over.

Rightsnet| (new window) the main website for welfare rights advisers. There is a bulletin board where advisers can post up queries and get a response from advisers across the net.

Shelter| (new window) online information about housing issues, including repossessions and homelessness.
