Macmillan welfare rights service

Bedfordshire Macmillan Welfare Rights Service is a benefits advice service for people living with cancer, their families and carers.

Bedfordshire Macmillan Welfare Rights Service can provide advice on the whole range of social security benefits and tax credits including:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carers’ benefits
  • Tax Credits
  • Housing and Council Tax benefits
  • Pension Credit or Income Support
  • appealing against benefit decisions
  • benefit checks and ‘better off’ calculations
  • issues with benefit claims, such as overpayments and appeals
  • health costs, such as prescriptions and travel to hospital
  • accessing charitable grants
  • applying for local authority financial support, such as school clothing grants
  • applying for transport concessions, such as a disabled parking badge

The service is for all age groups and you do not have to have a Macmillan nurse to get advice.  Appointments or home visits can be arranged by contacting your Macmillan nurse, District nurse or social worker. Or, you can contact Bedfordshire Macmillan Welfare Rights Service direct:
